The Crew
Captain Mike Bauhs
As a second generation captain, Mike has been fishing the waters out of Shinnecock for 15 years and has extensive knowledge of navigation, operation and most of all catching fish! Starting young, Mike would work with his father commercial fishing on draggers, which started his love for the sea. After the decline of most draggers, his father captained several private sport fishing boats where Mike started his mating career. Here he learned the basics, from knot tying, bait rigging and started to perfect his skills on how to catch fish. Mike worked on boats throughout High School and College taking any chance he could get. After College, Mike started running boats on his own and quickly made a name for himself, consistently catching and landing some trophy fish along the way. This extensive training has brought him to where he is today, and with nothing more than the passion to catch fish and the love of the sea, Captain Mike Bauhs is an established Captain with the record to prove it.
Born and raised on the magnificent shores of Long Island, Josh is no stranger to the world of fishing. Learning the ropes from his father, Josh has been fishing in the Shinnecock waters for 15 years and has loved every moment. Not only has he gained the fundamentals of fishing from an earlier age, but his experience working as a mate on numerous boats has helped to broaden his offshore skills and knowledge. While fishing on other boats, his expertise and friendly demeanor caught the attention of the Captain, and Josh was asked to mate the "Reel Action." Josh has logged more than 100 canyon trips in the past 3 years. Working as a teacher as well, Josh's enthusiasm for education rivals his passion for fishing. He quickly develops a rapport with children and works very well with them. There is no other place Captain/First Mate Josh Haight would rather be than continuing his lifelong love of fishing on the open seas.
